Despacito, a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi together with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It became the number one streamed music at that period within the space of six months. The single Despacito which was a mix of reggaeton and pop was not only a way to bring new interest to reggaeton but also sparked interest in Latin music. In Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two songs that were mostly Spanish language, while the year 2016 featured four. In the height of Despacito's chart-topping success in 2017, 19 songs mainly made in Spanish made it to the top 100. This number rose to 41 in 2020. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish-language version in 2017 shortly after which popular artists began working together with reggaeton groups. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny for the production of MIA (2018), while Madonna worked on Medellin with Maluma (2019). Certain reggaeton performers expressed their displeasure at the rise of mainstream music in the year 2020. A new group, Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the growth and evolution of reggaeton. It was often associated with electronic dance as well as different styles.
